League of Legends news » Korean Regionals: Battle for the Final Spot at Worlds
As the season nears a close, Korea will be sending their top two teams to represent their region at the Season Two World Championships in October.
Leading up to the Regionals, Korean teams competed in a season circuit similar to North America and Europe’s Challenger Circuit. At the end of the circuit, Azubu Frost held the top spot on the ladder with 600 points, only 100 more than their brother team Azubu Blaze. By holding the first rank in the season ladder, Azubu Frost secured the first Korean seat at the World Playoffs.
The Korean Regionals will determine the second team to be sent to Worlds. The second to fifth ranked teams on the ladder must compete at Regionals for this last spot. Incredible Miracle pulled a 3-1 victory against CJ Entus in a fifth place tie-breaker match to advance to Regionals, where they lost 3-1 against NaJin Sword. NaJin Sword defeated Xenics Storm in a nail-biting best of five series. TEAM X advanced to the finals where they will cross swords with the number two ladder ranked team, Azubu Blaze.
On September 21 at 3:30AM Pacific (12:30 CEST), Azubu Blaze and NaJin Sword face off in a life-changing series for a chance at $1 million and to represent Korea in the Season Two World Championships. The final match utilizes a best of five format, with the first four games being Draft Pick and the fifth game being Blind Pick. All the action will be streamed on OnGameNet’s League of Legends website.
