League of Legends news » Worlds Semifinals in pics
Just like that, the Worlds 2015 Semifinals in Brussels are already behind us. Join us as we take a look back at the full fan experience of the show and its new round stage layout.
And we thought Brits were the ones who love queuing! A huge number of you turned out to watch the games in Belgium. It was really great to see so many of you filling up the unique venue of the Brussels Expo. There are some fantastic pics of what that looks like below!
Here we see some League of Legends fans in their natural habitat, doing what they do best. Namely, making amazingly creative signs to show off their love for their favourite team, champion or caster. We'll have these available for the Finals in Berlin, too, along with the temporary tattoos of all of the Worlds teams. So EU fans, feel free to stick a Fnatic tattoo to your face and pretend last week never happened.
The VS wall was well used. Here, Arcade Riven faces off against Yasuo. Just like in London and Paris, there's been a huge selection of very talented cosplayers attending the shows. Cosplayers aren't the only ones who love taking photos ahead of the show, though...
Bora "YellOwStaR" Kim took some time off from his pre-show practicing to check out the cosplayers and grab a picture too. We can't wait to see who shows up in Berlin!
Inside the venue, the stage is set. A calm quiet fills the hall before the doors open to the public. As you can here we've done something a little different here. The teams are directly facing each other -- rather than side by side -- allowing players to look their lane foes directly in the eyes as they play.
The Summoner's Cup also sits proudly on the stage, as a constant reminder of the tournament's high stakes.
This crowd. We can't get enough of the energy you all brought to the show. With the stage in the round, and the audience on all sides of the players, the atmosphere was incredible. And it looks amazing! Showing only a couple of photos here feels like a waste, so we've plucked a bunch of shots that really show how the lighting and attendees evolved as the show progressed.
Seats weren't only at floor level. There was a whole ring of raised seating around the edge, too. With the audience surrounding the stage, this made the inevitable crowd waves even more powerful and allowed them to continue around the venue with seemingly no end. Truly a sight to behold.
Of all of the venues, Brussels Expo was the easiest to make sure everyone in the arena got a good view of the action. Four huge screens made sure that everyone was able to see the games from a comfortable distance, no matter what angle they're sitting at.
Hopefully by now you've got an idea of what it was like to be among this impressive throng of League of Legends fans. Can the atmosphere of the Finals in Berlin can at least match this? We'll find out on Saturday. Not long now...
The distance between the two teams is easily enough to see each other, but far enough not to hear anything the other team's saying.
The crowd sits in rapt anticipation as the games progress. Every death, missed CS or clutch escape is punctuated by the emotional gasps and cheers from the audience. Sadly, Europe's dreams ended here in the Semifinals, but we have no doubt whatsoever that the European crowd will show up in full force to see the KOO Tigers take on SKTelecom in the Finals this weekend.
The analyst desk flew in from Los Angeles to take part in the festivities for the Semifinals in Brussels. They'll also be around in Berlin for the Finals!
Hopefully you'll be in attendance, too. We're looking forward to seeing you there for the culmination of the entire 2015 season and what we expect to be an explosive finale for the Worlds tournament. See you there!
