The ESL has just announced its intent to add an additional level of competition to their highly successful Premier League this February!
The NESL Pro League is a brand new league that will feature eight teams hand-picked by the NESL for high-level competition. Teams who place well in the NESL Premier League will receive strong consideration for one of these coveted spots. Boasting a prize pool of $15,000 per season, the NESL Pro League is one of the biggest prized events to date in Season Two.
The NESL Premier League has been expanded to include some additional prize money as well as the chance to qualify for this whole new level of league play. Now featuring a prize pool of $4,000, the NESL Premiere League is open to all NESL Premium Members who wish to enlist their team for a nominal fee. These teams compete in pre-arranged matches over the course of a three month season that culminates in playoffs. During these playoffs, the remaining teams will battle it out for the prize money as well as the chance to qualify for the next season of the NESL Pro League.
Play4Fame is a tournament series organized by 4 Players League (4PL), a German eSports organization. The tournament is open to all participants; qualifiers occur every weekend of the month, ultimately culminating in a final at the end of every month.
Participating teams compete in 5v5 matches every weekend of any given month. Teams who earn the most qualification points during these matches will advance and qualify to compete in the monthly finals with a prize pool of €750.
The last qualifier for the month of February is this Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Teams who get through the 5v5 qualifier have the opportunity to advance to the finals on Feb. 27th at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time and compete against other qualified teams for a 1st Place Prize of €400.

Up first, the round of eight in the IPL 4 qualifier begins on Saturday, where the final four teams for IPL 4 will be decided. However, the tournament does not end with these final four teams, as the remaining teams will vie for first place in the qualifying, winning an all-expense paid trip to IPL 4. The next stop on the League of Legends World Tour takes us to the Republic of the Philippines. Composed of over 7,000 islands in the Pacific southwest, the Philippines is home to diverse cultures, breathtaking tropical scenery and some of the fastest growing League of Legends communities in the world!
Filipino gamers already counted MOBA games among some of their favorites at the time League of Legends launched in January of 2011. Even with many other titles in the genre to choose from, however, these enthusiastic players seemed to take an immediate liking to game. In the first year following release alone, League of Legends populations in the Philippines doubled 5 times over! As one local summoner put it, “League of Legends is not a game. It’s a lifestyle!”
The Philippines is home to one of the most extensive PC café networks in the world. Extremely popular amongst players in this region, PC cafés can sometimes be found on every street corner in major cities. Even the smallest of municipalities or towns usually boasts at least one of these popular gaming destinations. As extremely social gamers, Filipino summoners can develop strong ties to their preferred gaming venues, often visiting other cafés to challenge their home teams for bragging rights. Local tournaments are also commonplace, and some PC cafés even set up large displays to showcase these showdowns to the rest of their patrons.

The next stop on the League of Legends World Tour brings us to China. As one of the fastest growing markets for PC games, Chinese gamers are some of the most passionate in the world. With more and more and more titles are quickly expanding into the region, the Chinese marketplace has become a hotspot for competitive gaming. In particular, Chinese players primarily enjoy FPS, MMORPG and MOBA style games.
Although there were already well-established competitors in the region, China was quick to embrace League of Legends, citing a quick, reliable update schedule and open, responsive developers as two of their primary reasons for playing. Available as a part of China’s QQ Network – a holistic service that offers social networking, messaging and gaming services to its users – the game quickly soared to the top of the charts when the open beta began in July 2011. By the end of the year, League of Legends had become one of the fastest growing games released by a foreign game studio in the past three years.
League of Legends is also frequently represented at some of the larger gaming conventions in China, with passionate players often turning out in elaborate costumes to view the latest developments to the title. In addition to the cosplay community, a huge number of fan arts and crafts flood the Chinese League of Legends forums each and every day across a variety of media including: illustrations, sculptures and even sand art!
