Minecraft news » Community Creations: The Nine Realms
The Nine Realms: at first glance, it seems like any other large-scale Minecraft build. However, the project's lead, Adam Clarke, explains exactly what it is, and it's much more than a mere build:
The Nine Realms is a large, global combined arts project inspired by the nine realms of Norse mythology and the Icelandic Poetic and Prose Eddas. Supported with public funding by Arts Council England and Norfolk County Council. It showcases 45 poets, artists and musicians from all around the UK and the globe who have worked together online for 9 months through the ArtiPeeps website. The material created from this online project has been turned into a 5 day 'Experience' in Norfolk.
Through direct, participatory engagement with new poetry, new art, commissioned realm music, comic strip and the new inclusion of Minecraft, we hope to celebrate the oral tradition and introduce new audiences (both adults and children) to the richness of the Norse myths and sagas, in an enjoyable and accessible way.
The project is already visually impressive on its own, but it has more than pleasing aesthetics. Each area tells a story about a bit of mythology, poetry, and more, with custom resource-pack-added sound files, visuals, and more. It has a lot of depth, and definitely worth a look!
At present, there is no way to download the map directly, but you can follow the ArtiPeeps twitter account for more info and updates!
