Today is snapshot day! Just kidding.

Wait...it actually is snapshot day? I suppose that means we have a changelog to show you! Of special note in today's changelog is vastly improved boat mechanics, and some pretty sweet new treasure enchantments, see below!

CHANGELOG

• • Mending enchant

    • Repairs item when collecting xp
    • Can be put on any item with durability

  • Brewing now requires blaze powder

  • Treasure enchantments

    • (The two new enchantments)

  • Renaming items in anvils no longer makes their future repair cost go up

  • New enchantment for walking on water

    • Turns water into meltable ice which decays in multiple stages
    • Screenshots
    • "Frost walker"
    • Ice is called "Frosted Ice"
    • Can't be combined with Depth Strider
    • Works while riding mobs
    • Will not turn water into ice if an entity is in that spot
    • Works as long as you are with in one block above a solid block

  • Elytra changes

    • Slightly nerfed: You're no longer able to go higher than where you started
    • Sneaking animation: Animation
    • You now fit through one block high gaps while gliding - Animation
    • Horizontal collisions now deal damage, new death message: "Player experienced kinetic energy"

  • Boats

    • Now slightly faster than sprinting
    • Rowing in the right rhythm makes them go much faster

  • Fixed some bugs

    • Fixed enchanted books found in chests or fished not having enchants
    • Fixed: Netty Epoll Server IO #26/ERROR
    • Fixed chunks not loading when you are in a boat/minecart
    • Fixed AI-less skeletons spawning from spawners and the natural spawning algorithm as well as other related spawning issues relating to stacked mobs' spawning
    • Fixed players keeping their coordinates when travelling through portals
    • Fixed the new boats not being craftable

Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody reports a bug, they become a feature!

To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (See the “new profile” dialog). Snapshots can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.
