Minecraft news » Community Creations: Working Helicopter in Nearly-Vanilla 1.9
2016 is off to a...FLYING start! Get it?
...alright fine, let's just focus on the crazy helicopter.
MrMakistein has whipped up a frankly mind-boggling command block-based creation, that lets the player have a real, working helicopter inside Minecraft. There are no mods involved! Only in-game code, and a resource pack are needed to get flying! The helicopter uses coal for fuel, and it burns through it fairly quickly; around 60 coal will keep you airborne for approximately 5 minutes. Controlling the craft is done with a mix of selecting toolbar slots, and looking up or down to direct the craft forwards and backwards. It isn't a picture-perfect modeling of a helicopter (it doesn't, for example, tilt when it flies in one direction or another), but it remains an incredibly creative addition to your transportation options. Give it a shot, see what you think!
You can get the command line for the command block, as well as the resource pack for the helicopter, right here. Enjoy, and happy 2016!
