Minecraft news » Original Minecraft Surpasses 22 Million Sales

It's sometimes easy to forget, in a storm of console and portable releases, that the desktop version of Minecraft is still immensely popular. Seemingly in spite of critique suggesting it has lost a lot of steam, Minecraft recently surpassed 22 million sales on PC! Just in the last 24 hours, over 12,000 copies have sold. While the consoles have outsold the original version when looked at as one group, no single console has managed to beat the desktop for sheer numbers quite yet.

Regardless of which platform you prefer, it is pretty clear that Minecraft has incredible staying power, and will continue to be incredibly fun for quite some time! Don't forget that the 1.9 update is also fast approaching, bringing with it all sorts of new goodies! 2016 will be a great year for Minecraft!
