Minecraft news » Server Spotlight News: Hypixel Has Houses, Hive Has New Games!

Servers are huge, and they are everywhere! On average, more than 30,000 servers are running at any given time, and keeping track of even a fraction of these servers can be an incredibly daunting task. How can anyone keep up with so many version updates, game changes, feature additions, or anything else? The answer is simple: server news!

Every week, we will do spotlights on all servers - big and small, popular and niche, you name it - so you can keep up on what is fresh, in one simple place! If you are a server owner who has news about your server, send me a PM here on the forum and tell me about it!

Alright, let's jump right into this week's updates! First on the list are two very well-known server networks with some news of their own!

<table> <tbody> <tr> <td>Hypixel Network: Housing Added, and It Is Crazy</td> <td></td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

Not too long ago, Hypixel Network added player-created housing in private instances, and it is pretty amazing! Any player can set up a plot in a private instance, and build whatever they like (within reason) on their own plot, using a somewhat modified version of Creative. Some players create homes, others have come up with elaborate, interactive games of their own. While the initial selection of blocks is fairly small, players can unlock more blocks and even special items from normal gameplay on the server itself, which can then be added to their plot at their leisure.

On the technical side, it's a pretty unique system - every plot is its own private, peer-to-peer instance. These plots aren't city-spanning huge, but still a pretty solid size for nearly anything one player could want to build. Even so, each housing instance can hold over 1000 players at any given time! Having visited a few myself, some of them can be densely populated indeed, especially minigames and RPG houses. If you have ever wanted to make a home on a minigames server that was uniquely your own, and essentially grief-proof, this is definitely worth a look!

<table> <tbody> <tr> <td>The Hive: New Minigames (Gravity, Restaurant Rush), More Are Awesome</td> <td></td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

The Hive is also bustling with activity, adding new minigames at an astonishing rate. Two in particular stand out right now - Gravity, and Restaurant Rush!

Gravity is, like the name suggests, a series of dropper map challenges. On their own, droppers are pretty fun and weirdly intense. Add some friends to the mix, and it only gets crazier! Who can complete the drops first? Who can die the least? (Not me - I died a LOT.) Only one way to find out!

Additionally, a game called Restaurant Rush was added, and it is a LOT more intense than the name might suggest. You are dropped into a small restaurant which you have to manage for incoming villager customers. Cleaning tables and delivering the right food to the right customers would be challenging enough on its own, but as the game goes on, you have to be faster and more accurate with every passing customer! They start to come faster and faster, and it can be pretty overwhelming if you aren't very good at multitasking. If you are, you might just be a restaurant champion! Definitely worth a look.

Every week, we will highlight the newest and greatest news from the world of Minecraft Servers! If you are a server owner who has news about your server, feel free to PM me with updates, new features, or anything else news you may want featured! Bear in mind that I may not respond immediately, but every message is read.

Are you a player that knows something new and interesting in the world of servers? You can send a message as well! Be sure to cite sources where possible, to ensure accuracy of the information.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
