Starcraft 2 news » IPL Update: Team Leagues, Qualifiers, and Hot Imports
There’s always something going on in the IGN Proleague. Last weekend, in addition to the usual team league and Fight Club content, IPL put on a showmatch series at Hot Import Nights in San Francisco between four of the world’s best players. Now, the Team Arena Challenge is finally winding down: only the best of the best remain. Six teams will go home over the next two weeks, so be sure to cheer on your favorite.
On July 7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Hot Import Nights – a custom car show featuring competition between million-dollar show cars – hosted a special edition of IPL Fight Club, which pitted four of the world’s best players against each other for a $10,000 prize pool. Quantic Gaming’s Illusion, USA representative at the WCS North America Championship, was the sole Western representative, alongside three of Korea’s finest: MVP.DongRaeGu, SlayerS_MMA, and Liquid`HerO. The VODs aren't available yet, but when they are, they'll be posted on IPL’s website.
Over the next two weeks, the Team Arena Challenge continues with the most intense matches yet. First up, Losers’ Round 4 will see the elimination of some of the tournament’s strongest teams. Those that survive will have to face each other in the next Losers’ Round 5, where yet another team will be knocked out. These next two weeks could be your last chance to see your favorite team compete in this tournament. The four teams left in the Winners’ Bracket - Liquid, SlayerS, Incredible Miracle, and StarTale – will then clash to determine who will reach the Winners’ Finals. These matches are sure to be among the best of the tournament. Any of those four teams could easily win the whole thing. You won’t want to miss a single one.
Finally, on each Saturday IPL will broadcast two of the Satellite Qualifiers for IPL5. The top eight in each event will receive a spot in the main tournament later this year.
As usual, all matches will be broadcast on www.twitch.tv/ignproleague.
