Starcraft 2 news » IPL Update: Last Teams Standing
It all comes down to this. We started the Team Arena Challenge with 24 of StarCraft II’s best teams from around the world. Now, only seven are left standing: SlayerS, Incredible Miracle, Liquid, MVP, StarTale, Evil Geniuses, and Prime. By the end of this week, only two will remain. Who will seize their berth to the live Grand Finals in San Francisco? The way these teams are playing, it could be any of them.
First up, on Monday, Evil Geniuses will fight for survival against the Korean champion-caliber Prime squad. The first game of the night will be between IdrA and MarineKing, arguably the faces of their respective teams – a match you surely won’t want to miss. Following that, SlayerS faces down LG-Incredible Miracle on Tuesday in the Winners’ Bracket Finals. Whoever wins advances to the Grand Final, and the loser will drop to the Losers Bracket to await their challenger. On Wednesday, Liquid faces MVP, and on Thursday, StarTale faces the winner of EG and Prime. On Friday, the rest of the bracket will be played out until we have our two finalists.
The Grand Finals will not be held online like the rest of the tournament. Rather, the IGN Proleague will be bringing the event to you live from the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco, California on August 11! The two teams who reach the Grand Finals will be flown out and play in front of the live crowd in what’s sure to be an incredible event. Following the Finals, a special Best of 9 showmatch will be played between the ace player from each team. Spectator tickets will be 25 dollars in advance, and 30 dollars at the door.
