Starcraft 2 news » IEM Global Challenge: Cologne at gamescom 2012
The seventh season of the Intel Extreme Masters circuit kicks off this week, August 15-19! The event features some of the best pro-gamers from all over the world, including Global StarCraft II League legends Mvp and Nestea, as well as several WCS champions such as mOOnGLaDe, Nerchio, and KiLLeR. With the battles narrated by the casting talents of Day[9], Tastosis, and Kaelaris, you won’t want to miss a minute of the action.
IEM Season VI was the second season to feature StarCraft II, and each event proved exciting and memorable in its own right: PuMa’s rematch with MC at Cologne, IdrA’s resurgence at Guangzhou, DRG’s and MMA’s domination at New York and Kiev, viOLet’s rise to fame at Sao Paulo. All these led up to the World Championships in Hanover, where PuMa and MC met once more – their third meeting in a Grand Finals since they first faced off at North American Star League. MC was finally able to defeat his terran rival, claiming the title of Intel Extreme Masters Season VI Grand Champion.
This week, the excitement begins anew. The first event of the season will once again take place in Cologne, Germany inside the cavernous halls of gamescom, the world’s largest games fair. IEM Global Challenge: Cologne will run from August 15-19. 16 qualified players will compete in pool play while thirty-two others fight for the last eight spots through an open bracket.
