The Fall Championship in Dallas promises to be a weekend filled with epic StarCraft II moments. Who will you be cheering for, and what are some of your favorite moments from MLG weekends past?
The tournament begins tomorrow afternoon, and we’d like to highlight a few of the exciting storylines that will unfold this weekend.
Lee "Life" Seung Hyun (Zerg)
Just two weeks ago, StarTale_Life was crowned champion at the Global StarCraft II League Season 4 Finals after clinching a best-of-seven win over Incredible Miracle's ever-talented Terran, Jung "Mvp" Jong Hyun. Not only is Life the youngest champion in League history, but also the first “Royal Road” GSL title holder.
With his stellar GSL run, Life has already proven that he can spar with the best players StarCraft II has to offer, and still come out on top. However, an MLG Championship Weekend is three long days of grueling competition. Life’s confidence and hyper-aggressive play style could help carry him to his second championship title at a major event in less than one month, but will he collapse under the pressure of back-to-back opponents?
Lee "Leenock" Dong Nyoung (Zerg)

FXOpen's Lee "Leenock" Dong Nyoung is one of the world’s top Zerg players, and a familiar face at Major League Gaming events. At MLG events past, Leenock has proven himself a champion, walking away with the grand prize at the 2011 Pro Circuit Championship in Providence, Rhode Island, and again at the 2012 Summer Championship in Raleigh.
With two gold medals already under his belt, Leenock now faces the daunting task of becoming the first StarCraft II player in MLG history to win three championship titles. Chris "HuK" Loranger, a Protoss player from team Evil Geniuses, also faced this challenge in the past, but has yet to claim a third MLG title. Will Leenock be the first?
Lee "Flash" Young Ho (Terran)
“The Ultimate Weapon”, “God”, “The Final Boss” –Fans of KTRolster’s Flash have given him many nicknames over the years, and for good reason. For anyone unfamiliar with Flash, he is one of the most dominant and successful StarCraft: Brood War players of all time. He holds the highest point record in KeSPA history, and has an extensive collection of gold medals earned in tournament competition.
Lee Young Ho’s highly-anticipated switch from Brood War to StarCraft II came in the first half of 2012 and brought with it some incredibly high expectations from fans who wish to see him repeat his successes. Over the last few months, Flash managed to qualify for GSL Code A, and reached the quarterfinals of the MLG vs. Proleague Invitational, earning a slot in group play at MLG Dallas.
He has stated previously that he will need another year of practice before he is playing StarCraft II in top form. This weekend will offer eSports fans the opportunity to gauge his progress thus far.
Battle.net World Championship Players
Many of the players competing at the Battle.net World Championship in Shanghai, China will also be present at MLG Dallas as they battle for the $25,000 first prize. Six are slated for Group Play at the Fall Championship, while many more are already signed up for the Open Bracket. Check out this detailed participant list for MLG Dallas and compare it to the BWC info graphic to find out if your favorite players will be competing in both tournaments. This weekend could prove to be a preview for things to come at BWC, which is only two short weeks away!
Though we shined the spotlight on a few notable competitors here, this is just a snapshot of the tournament. Many more fantastic stories will unfold during this action-packed weekend, so be sure to root for your favorite teams and players at the MLG Fall Championship free stream on Friday, November 2 at 5:00 p.m. CDT.
