Starcraft 2 news » 2011 GSL Blizzard Cup — The End
Last weekend, GOMtv’s 2011 GSL season was sent off in epic fashion in what is being called one of the greatest series in StarCraft II history. Park “DongRaeGu” Soo Ho and Moon “MMA” Sung Won fueled the fire beneath their growing rivalry, as the two squared off for the title of 2011’s Blizzard Cup Champion.
MMA, fresh off a 3-0 victory over Mvp in the semis, looked to extend his winning streak and close out the competition early. Riding the wave of his momentum, MMA opened strong, crushing through his opponent to take an early 3-0 lead in the best of 7 series. However, the ever-improving and always determined DongRaeGu was not going down without a fight. Showing MMA that he was in the finals for a reason, DongRaeGu held strong and pulled out 3 consecutive wins to tie the series.
With the GSL Championship on the line, both players pushed themselves to their limits to close out this epic series. When the smoke cleared, only one player remained. After a 40 minute, action-packed match, MMA held off an impressive assault from DonRaeGu , securing his victory and earning the Blizzard Cup Trophy!
Please join us in congratulating the 2011 GSL Blizzard Cup Champion, SlayerS’ MMA!
