World of Tanks news » Breakdown: Game Modes
Game Modes:
There will be three types of battles included in the Random Battle Queue as of the 7.4 update: "Standard Battle", "Encounter Battle", and "Assault"
Standard Battle:
Two teams, with 15 vehicles per team, take part in one match. Each team has its own base (flag area) to defend. A team can achieve victory by either destroying all enemy vehicles or by capturing the enemy base. The battle can take up to 15 minutes, but if no one has achieved victory then the match is a draw.
This game mode can be played on all maps.
Assault:
Two teams, with 15 vehicles per team, take part in one match. Only one of the teams has its own base (flag area) to defend. This team must defend their base until the 10 minute match timer runs out, or destroy all enemy tanks to achieve victory. The second team has no base of their own and must assault the enemy base. They can only achieve victory by capturing the enemy base, or by destroying all enemy tanks. If the timer runs out without the base being captured then the defending team wins the match.
This game mode can be played on the following maps:
- Siegfried Line

- Karelia
- Sand River
- Prokhorovka

Encounter Battle:
Two teams, with 15 vehicles per team, take part in one match. Neither team has a base to call their own; instead, they both must attempt to capture a centrally located base (flag area). Either team can win by successfully capturing the base at the center of the map, or by destroying all enemy tanks. This battle can take up to 15 minutes, but if no one has achieved victory then the match is a draw.
