The Ural Steel 2012 qualifier round has come to a close, with teams now eligible for the Grand Finals in Moscow, Russia on September 15-16, 2012!
We started off with more than 100 teams vying for the right to represent the North American cluster in Moscow, and that is now down to the four who will compete for the Ural Steel 2012 championship and $77,000 in cash prizes.
There was a lot of speculation building up to the quarterfinals, as well as a few surprises –including upsets of recent tournament champions. The competition was easily the fiercest we’ve seen in a North American tournament to this point.
