We’ve rounded up a collection of interviews from the event, because we love you.
The top StarCraft II players in Colombia will face off in the StarCraft II World Championship Series (WCS) Colombia Nationals. Players will battle it out through online and on-site qualifier tournaments to earn the right to fight at the Nationals. The best of the best will be competing for honor and glory, and the top two will represent their country at the South America Finals, which will be held on July 14-15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil!
The next national event in the StarCraft II World Championship Series takes place in London, England. The top 16 British StarCraft II players will fight for a $15,000 USD prize pool and three slots in the Europe Finals.

Season 8, which begins the week of June 11, will bring with it some changes to the 1v1 and 2v2 map pools. In season 7, we experimented with a larger 1v1 map pool. After reviewing player feedback, we’ll be returning to a pool of 8 maps. We will continue to maintain a heavy focus on tournament viable 1v1 maps, and that thought process has influenced our decisions regarding which maps will be removed from the ladder for Season 8.
The new maps are playable now! You can experience them via the custom game interface now, and they’ll join the ladder when the new season starts next week.
Attention, StarCraft II ladder competitors! Season 7 is now locked.
At the end of each ladder season, leagues are “locked,” which means players can no longer be promoted or demoted out of their current league or division, and bonus pools will stop growing.

In the world of professional StarCraft there are stars, and there are legends. For years the greatest Brood War players have seemingly been worlds away, but as they switch to StarCraft II viewers around the globe will be front and center as they adapt to the newer game. Team Liquid’s Waxangel interviewed two such Brood War legends, Kim “Bisu” Taek Young and Lee “JD” Jae Dong, along with the coach of one of the most successful teams of all time, Park Yong Woon of SK Telecom T1.
