As previously announced, we’ll be reducing champion prices on a fixed schedule going forward, which is primarily based on champion release dates. The initial price reductions on Ezreal, Vladimir, Renekton, Nocturne, Lee Sin, Brand and Vayne have already been completed.

Here are the details on the next set of scheduled price reductions. Please note that because these price reductions are preannounced, refunds will not be granted to players who purchase these champions prior to their price reductions.

• 1st champion launch of 2013: Yorick reduced to 4800 IP / 880 RP and Udyr reduced to 1350 IP / 585 RP

In Season 3 we’re making some exciting renovations to ranked play. At the heart of the update is a new league system that provides more challenges for competitive players and a greater sense of progression for newcomers. The holiday is over and the results are in! Over the past few weeks, we had the chance to follow one of NA’s most prominent teams, Curse Gaming, and talk to them about their journey to qualify for Season 3. With the North American Live Qualifiers hosted this weekend live from Los Angeles, the haunting memory of early defeat in Season 2 and the looming prospect of not qualifying for Season 3 holds greater threat than just a simple defeat.

The League of Legends Championship Series is about to begin! For the first time, professional teams compete every week in regular season games that will determine who makes it into an intense playoff race. The regular season culminates in an action-packed World Championship tournament to decide who hoists the Summoner’s Cup as the Season 3 World Champion.

Eight teams from North America and eight from Europe will battle for divisional dominance in a two-part regular season. The first half of the season runs February 7 through April 20, and the second half follows from June 1 through August 31. The top teams from each division at the end of the second half will advance to the World Championship to compete for millions of dollars in prize money.

Shaco’s wicked grin hides serious thespian talent. To celebrate the one year anniversary of our Korean launch, the Demon Jester has shed his courtly garb in favor of the colorful attire of a masked dancer. Masked Shaco’s new animations and spell effects, including whirling fan-blades and talchum-inspired boxes, highlight the cultural tradition of Korean mask dance.

Season 3’s Path to Pro rolled along last weekend with the top 32 ranked teams in Europe and North America competing in do-or-die online qualifiers for the chance to go pro. The best-of-three single elimination tournament showed off brutal tactics and all-or-nothing strategic gambits, with the fierce competition reflecting the fact that each team sported some of the best players in their region’s respective scenes. The top eight teams from each region emerged alive from the weekend of qualifiers, and will advance to the NA and EU Live Qualifiers this weekend to face not only each other but storied fan favorite teams, all gunning for the ultimate goal of securing a pro player salary and a spotlight on the world stage.

• When I engaged my Hextech Plasmatron 3000 viewing device (and beat on it a few times to improve the connection) I jumped into the action with a glimpse of Guerilla Tristana spoiling a riveting duel. But I don’t think she knows about the intruder in the brush. 487 RP
  
• Recon Teemo was waiting to make his move on his target when the interruption occurred. Now he’s just motionless, his camouflage providing perfect cover. 260 RP
  
• Of course, Urfrider Corki isn’t backing down, not with reinforcements. His Phosphorus Bombs are going off all over the place, but he hasn’t caught his enemy yet and mushroom traps are covering the lane in a noxious poison cloud. Ah, it almost feels as though I’m there. 487 RP

We’ve been talking to players about how they feel about pricing for a while now – we’ve talked with you on the forums, ran surveys, met with some of you in person, and listened to your feedback.

As a result of those conversations, we’re making some changes to champion pricing aimed at generally lowering champion prices and making it easier for you to add to your champion collection. This plan will involve immediate and ongoing reductions of IP and RP prices of older champions, as well as increasing the time you have to earn IP between champion releases.

These fists were made for punching and that’s just what you’ll do when you slip on the gauntlets as Vi, the Piltover Enforcer.
