Greetings summoners!
If you’ve ever wondered what preternatural bests lurk near the ocean floor, look no further than Nautilus, the Titan of the Depths! This imposing new champion is a fun, satisfying tank with a new initiation mechanic and a ton of soft crowd control mechanics to wreak havoc on the enemy team. And to top it all off, he’s utterly massive and punishes his opponents with heavy swings from a gigantic anchor.
Nautilus’ core ability is Dredge Line. Although he’s relatively slow and lumbering, Nautilus has the ability to drag himself and an enemy closer together. This makes him an ideal champion to have up front when you’re at a standoff with the enemy team. By dragging himself in to lead the attack and pulling an enemy out of position, you can create just the opening your allies need to start the team fight off on the right foot. You can also use Dredge Line on terrain to either get around more quickly or escape in a pinch.

Anyone in a creative field will tell you that artists come under more pressure than a deep sea diver. So when Wes Keil told us that he’d come up with the perfect splash art for Nautilus, the Titan of the Depths, we started to think that he might have gone off the deep end! Luckily for us, it turned out he was still shipshape!
Please enjoy this high-speed rendition of Wes taking a plunge into the artwork for Nautilus, the Titan of the Depths!
Any sailor worth his salt will let you know that the world’s greatest mysteries lie at the bottom of the ocean. Of course, they’ll also probably tell you that those who aren’t careful find themselves caught between the devil and the deep blue sea!
Take for instance, Nautilus, the Titan of the Depths. You’ll find no better expert on the things that lurk in Davey Jones’ Locker.
The next stop on the League of Legends World Tour takes us to the sister nations of Singapore and Malaysia.
Situated next to one another on the Malay Peninsula, Singapore and Malaysia are both home to vibrant gaming cultures. Having officially joined the international League of Legends community in May of 2010, they are also two of the most well-established regions playing League of Legends to date. MOBA style games were already a familiar part of gaming culture in Southeast Asia when League of Legends launched, along with many FPS and MMORPG titles. This familiarity helped fuel rapid growth in the region, a trend that has only increased as the game continues to evolve. As a matter of fact, in 2011 alone the League of Legends playerbase in Singapore and Malaysia more than doubled in size!
Most Singaporean and Malaysian gamers prefer to get their gaming done from home, but the success of League of Legends has boosted the popularity of internet cafes and LAN centers. Enthusiastic players from both nations turn out to compete at huge number of events, resulting in an extremely close-knit community. An impressive number of fan art and creations have come from both nations, and teams often cross the border to compete in each other’s tournaments.
Welcome to another issue of the North American Power Rankings, presented by Average Gatsby. With the Intel Extreme Master’s World Championship coming in March, it’s time to re-assess the strength of North American teams. Like the European edition, I’ve decided to weigh prized events a bit more heavily than the previous edition. Yet, as always, Challenger Circuit results have the most weight.
While the top two teams have remained the same, teams further down the list have seen some swaps. As of yet, no new teams have emerged but as the circuit continues and more North American Challenger Circuit stops are added, we could see some changes to who is on this list.
1. Team SoloMid
- Current Challenger Circuit Rating: 1st (Tied with Counter Logic Gaming)
- Recent Circuit Performance: 2nd IntelEM Kiev
- Notable Prized Events: 2nd Go4LoL EU West #75
It’s another Wednesday in Runeterra, which means it’s time to outfit another of your favorite champions with a new skin. This week, we have the fearsome Headhunter Master Yi coming to the League of Legends. Featuring some truly savage looking armor and a wicked new sword, this terrifying take on the Wuju Bladesman also features new spell effects for both Alpha Strike and Wuju Style!

Summoners!
This past December we gave a holiday gift to all of you who had made a commitment to being a positive force in the League of Legends community. We also announced that the 450 Riot Points that you received were to lay the groundwork for a new initiative to further reward all summoners as they advance in the League of Legends.
In keeping with this objective, we’re going to begin distributing some rewards to our new players to help them on their way to level 30. Once a new summoner reaches level 3 they will receive 400 Riot Points as a reward for their participation and perseverance up to that point.
The World Championship of the Intel Extreme Masters Series is approaching fast, so we wanted to take the opportunity to talk a little bit about what’s led these teams to this epic finale in Hannover, Germany.
The Intel Extreme Masters Series is one of the largest and most respected eSports leagues in the world, historically featuring only the most competitive titles in the world for huge prize pools. League of Legends is only the 6th title to ever be selected for the Intel Extreme Masters since it was established by the ESL.
Each IntelEM Global Challenge pits some of the top competitors from all over the world against one another both the pride of winning and substantial prize. The 1st and 2nd place teams at each of these Global Challenges qualify for a spot at the IntelEM World Championship, a massive tournament featuring the top performers across all the events in a single season. All teams participating in a Global Challenge also earn points towards a placement on the Intel Extreme Masters leaderboard. These points are separate from the Challenger Circuit Points also awarded by these events, and are used to determine which teams advance to fill the remaining slots at Intel Extreme Masters World Championship.

It’s another week, and we’ve got another fantastic set of fan-made marvels. Brace yourselves for another awesome episode!
Let’s take a closer look at the entries.
A King is Crowned in Europe
Over the past week, Chips & Noi, two popular French shoutcasters, hosted one of the most watched online League of Legends tournaments in history. Featuring eight of the best teams in Europe, the tournament featured casting in both French and English and saw some incredible matches. Over 90,000 people in both languages tuned into the finals, where IntelEM Kiev winners Moscow Five faced off against newcomer CLG.eu. During some of the closest matches seen in a recent League of Legends tournament, CLG.eu pulled off a victory 2-1 against Moscow Five.
If you missed any of the action, check out either the Chips & Noi YouTube channel for the French cast, or Deman’s YouTube channel for English casting by Deman and ex-Dignitas member Jatt.
Welcome to the EU edition of Power Rankings, presented by Average Gatsby. I’ve made a number of tweaks based on the feedback we received from the first North American issue.
Navigating the EU competitive scene is tough to say the least. Most teams are run by organizations rather than players, so a team with circuit points may have a completely different line up now than when they won the circuit points. Teams change roster or organizations seemingly on a weekly basis. Europe has had fewer opportunities to gain circuit points in the preseason than North America. Finally, top European teams compete against each other constantly, no matter how large or small the prize pool is.
As a result, I’ll be adding in some teams that have not qualified for any circuit points but have achieved stand-out performances in tournaments and Prized Events where other circuit teams have participated. However, as always, live event performance at Challenger Circuit events are weighted higher than any online event. After all, online events alone will not get a team to the Season Two Championship.
