League of Legends news:
Summoners!
Galio’s wardrobe keeps growing more extensive, so to help you fill out your own closet for the Sentinel’s Sorrow, we’re reducing the cost on one of his classic skins. If you’ve ever thought that your gargoyle could use a tune up, you can send him on down to the foundry for a steamwork overhaul at a reduced price.
Hextech Galio (originally 975 RP) is now permanently available for purchase at only 520 RP. There’s a mechanic standing by in the League of Legends Store to help overhaul your favorite Demacian tank today.

Interested in creating a delicious treat for our Noxus Noms Food Creation Contest? You’re not too late! Give your food a League of Legends theme and take pictures for all the world to see! For inspiration, RiotCupcake baked this terrific cupcake:
If you’re fond of cutting a swath through your enemies on the way to scoring that epic killing blow, look no further than Darius, the Hand of Noxus. This focused and deadly warrior specializes in focused attacks and attrition damage, closing out his assault with heavy damage nukes. At the heart of Darius’ kit is his passive ability: Hemorrhage. Darius’ basic attacks and damaging abilities all cause the target to bleed for additional damage over time. This effect can stack up to five times, also giving Darius some bonus Movement Speed for each enemy champion currently afflicted and granting his other abilities additional effects.
In team fights, Darius can start off by using Decimate to quickly apply his bleed on a number of enemies. These Hemorrhage debuffs will not only give him a hefty Movement Speed bonus, but also interact with his other abilities for added effect. To pursue a fleeing enemy, the added speed from his passive combines with Crippling Slash, an attack that slows the opponent and refunds part of the cooldown for each stack of Hemorrhage currently affecting the target. Even in the event an adversary should start to slip away, Darius can use Apprehend to pull them back within reach.

Summoners!
Last year, you showed us the power of this community when you supported the Red Cross’ Japan earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. This year, we’re asking for your help to support a fellow summoner, Joe.
Joe has been battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of cancerous bone tumor that affects thousands of children around the world. Joe, a 17-year-old from Westchester, Pa., first joined the ranks of League of Legends a couple of years ago with his friends, and plays the game as a way to stay connected with them as he undergoes treatment.
A few months back, we started working with Make-A-Wish® to bring Joe and his dad out to our Santa Monica HQ to spend the day. We were excited to meet him, and were blown away by his courage and positive attitude.
Joe’s visit inspired us to give back to Make-A-Wish to help them make more of these wishes possible. From now, May 4, until 10:30 a.m. PT on May 18, 2012, Riot Games will donate 100 percent of the RP sale price for Joe’s favorite champion, Jax, and his Jaximus skin to Make-A-Wish. To make it easier to help, we’ll also be lowering the price of both the champion and skin by 50% during this period.

If you’ve been wondering what can happen when someone really, truly lets their dark side get the best of them, then look no further than Varus, the Arrow of Retribution. This dangerous combination between caster and ranged carry is equipped with a number of abilities designed to both whittle enemies down from range, and allow him to close in for the kill.
The lynchpin in Varus’ kit is Piercing Arrow – a long ranged skill shot attack that damages enemies in a line. Pressing Q will cause Varus to draw back his bow, reducing his movement speed, but steadily ramping up damage and range (up to a cap) until you left click to select a target. Through creative positioning Varus can either use this skill to pepper enemies with long range attacks or close out a kill on a fleeing enemy with a hard-hitting shot.
Not so fast, summoner! I’ve just made contact with my double agent inside the Riot Games headquarters, and I can’t afford to have an amateur blowing my cover. He’s taken some huge risks to bring us this intel, and I’ve gone to great lengths to convince him that I’m able to make it very worth his while. Oh, and if you’re caught with any of this, you don’t know me.
This envelope contains top secret information on the next set of champion and skins sales. The sale starts tomorrow, so that should give you plenty of time to requisition the necessary operational funds from your offshore accounts. Here’s the pulse:

Remember when you got your first look at this intimidating archer in early April? Well, when you’re ruminating on a piece of artwork, you never know where your inspiration might come from. Sometimes it’s all sunshine and butterflies, and other times your motivation hearkens from someplace gloomier than the Arctic Circle at the stroke of midnight in mid-January. And as long as we’re talking about inspiration striking from someplace dark, let’s have a closer look at the next champion of the League.
Whatever inspires you, when your muse comes knocking you’ve got to be ready to take aim and let that arrow fly. Take Varus, the Arrow of Retribution, for example. No matter how consuming his thirst for vengeance becomes, this is one indomitable archer who is always on point.
This high-speed rendition will show you just how deep the corruption runs in Varus, the Arrow of Retribution!
