Starcraft 2 news » WCS Europe Finals to Take Place in Sweden’s Ericsson Globe

On September 15 and 16, the StarCraft II World Championship Series (WCS) is returning to Sweden. The WCS Europe Finals will bring together the top 32 European StarCraft II players in Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe – Sweden’s national indoor arena.

Europe’s best players have been determined through a series of live national finals events that have taken place throughout the summer. The continent’s top StarCraft II eSports talent will now compete for a piece of the $60,000 USD prize pool and one of the six remaining European spots in the Battle.net World Championship in Shanghai this November.

Produced in partnership with DreamHack, the WCS Europe Finals will be one of the biggest eSports stage shows to ever hit Europe, including an in-house BarCraft, a merchandise store, the opportunity to play some of the latest Blizzard games and meet some of Europe’s most popular pro gamers, and much more.

The Ericsson Globe, constructed in 1989, is the largest spherical building in the world. The venue has been home to world and European championships for ice hockey, basketball, and handball. The arena is a fitting location for this groundbreaking eSports event, which is expected to attract StarCraft II fans and players from all across Europe.

All highlighted matches will be played live on stage at the Ericsson Globe, with production and shoutcasting from DreamHack. Click here to buy tickets, which range from 320-375 SEK (roughly €38-45). If you can’t make it to the event in person, you’ll be able to follow all the action live via HD stream. Stay tuned for more information.
