This coming weekend we will see 32 of North America’s finest StarCraft II players compete in the World Championship Series (WCS) North America Finals being held this weekend at the Major League Gaming Summer Championship in Raleigh North Carolina. On the eve of the event, we’ve reached out to some of these players to learn a little bit more about who they are.
The final event in Major League Gaming's summer season arrives in Raleigh, North Carolina this weekend: the 2012 MLG Pro Circuit Summer Championship. Featuring two huge tournaments, the Summer Championship and the World Championship Series North America Finals, this event promises to be action-packed, filled with your favorite eSports heroes and up-and-comers. Commentary will be provided by top shoutcasters, including Day[9], Apollo, djWheat, TotalBiscuit, Mr Bitter, Rotterdam, Blizzard’s Rob Simpson, and more.
Various competition organizers hold regular online tournaments in which you can compete against other players and maybe even win some prizes! Most of these contests are open to everyone. In addition, there are professional tournaments taking place like the WCS North America Finals and the MLG Summer Championship which you can follow via video stream. Interested?
From August 15-19, gamers around the globe had their attention firmly fixed on Cologne, Germany for the world’s largest video games event, gamescom. More than 275,000 people attended the fair, many of whom visited the Blizzard stage to watch exciting StarCraft II show matches between some of the best players in the world.
The World Championship Series (WCS) North America Finals are just a couple days away. Over the past few months, players from Canada, Mexico, and the United States have battled it out for the right to represent their countries at this monumental event. Now, thirty-two players have risen above the rest – they will face off in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Major League Gaming Summer Championship for a $60,000 prize pool, and more importantly, seven spots to go to Shanghai, China and compete for the title of World Champion at the Battle.net World Championship. It’s been a long road for these players, and it’s not over yet. How did they come so far? Let’s take a look back at their journey to the North America Finals.

The World Championship Series is heating up. Most of the Nationals have concluded; only Korea rages on. The North American finals will be taking place very soon, and the European finals will be held the following month. Next up: WCS Asia, featuring 32 of the top StarCraft II players from China, Taiwan, Singapore, Southeast Asia, and South Korea competing for the honor of representing their nation at the Battle.net World Championships in November.

Today was the final day of gamescom 2012, and we certainly ended the show with a bang! We started off the day with an exciting World of Warcraft Live Raid, when members of the elite German raiding guild For The Horde took on Cataclysm’s most difficult raid instance: Dragon Soul in 25-man Heroic mode.
Loads of visitors have already stopped by our booth in Halle 6.1 (B21) of Cologne’s Koelnmesse since gamescom opened its doors to the public on Thursday, and they certainly haven’t been disappointed! Not only have they garnered some fantastic goodies, but they’ve also been epically entertained in true Blizzard style.
Today was the second public day of gamescom 2012, and our second Mists of Pandaria Leveling Contest. This time it was Mark-Hendrik Moll who was the first to make it through the pandaren starting zone to level five, taking home an awesome Sindragosa and the Lich King set from Mega Bloks.
The seventh season of the Intel Extreme Masters circuit kicked off this week, August 15-19! The event features some of the best pro-gamers from all over the world, including Global StarCraft II League legends Mvp and Nestea, as well as several WCS champions such as mOOnGLaDe, Nerchio, and KiLLeR.

gamescom 2012 has opened its doors to the public, and Blizzard Entertainment is right in the middle of all the action!
Today was the first fully public day of the event, and excitement is already mounting at the Blizzard booth.
On August 3 – 4, the top 32 Mexican players gathered in the heart of their country to battle for one of six places that will advance onto the North American Finals. These players fought their way through three local qualifiers events held in prominent convention centers in the cities of Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City.

There you’ll also find helpful tips and an FAQ, as well as instructions on how to add additional layers of security to your account, including the Battle.net Authenticator or the Mobile Authenticator for those that aren’t already using one. Note that only players on North American servers will receive the prompt to change their security question.
